I will always remember the afternoon of this day. Trevor Sven Carlson came over to my house later that day and to my surprise, he brought one of my idols and OG photo legend, Brian Bielmann as well as his good friend Tim (whom is my friend as well now). We sat in our impressive garden drying room, and I showed them my shot from earlier that day. Turns out that they had left the session at Pe’ahi a little earlier than I, on the boat, and Brian had missed this wave. He told me that it was a great shot and he was jealous it wasn’t his. To this day, it’s one of the highest compliments i’ve ever received. This image ended up being nominated into the finals of the WSL Big Wave Awards for Biggest Wave of the Year.
